This identity system for the University of Hawaiʻi School of Architecture utilizes a single commercial press sheet divided into 8.5×11, 11×17, + 17×22 as a template that can be used interchangeably front and back. When the individual parts are folded (indexing paper folding as an Eastern tradition) they reveal different perspectives and multiple uses that are not obvious until explored. This interchangeability of forms as well as the folding, exemplifies the fluidity of interchange between East and West, and becomes attentive to the environment and issues of sustainability.

This client retention birthday mailer was designed for the Northwestern Mutual’s Honolulu office. The card’s greeting is presented in the Hawaiian language, over a backdrop of the iconic landmark Diamond Head. The crater’s edge is echoed in a pattern above, which creates a design reminiscent of a financial line graph, to imply the prospect of financial growth.
The Book Rack is a family owned bookstore in Whidbey Island Washington. The store recently made some grand renovations, when the ownership changed hands from mother to son. I worked with Matt the new owner, to rebrand the business with a modern rustic look, to coincide with the changes in the store. These included a new logo, business cards, bookmarks, window and forefront signage, and ongoing print collateral, web design and social media management.

Shortly moving to Japan I had the opportunity to collaborate on the redesign and publishing of The Misawan, a quarterly publication that chronicled the activities of US Navy Command N.I.O.C. Misawa. Built around a six column grid, the design scheme utilizes Morse Code, as an indexical reference to the command’s intelligence oriented mission.

As told by author Larry Alexander, "Sixty Ways to Lament, Cherish, and Glorify a Lost Princess: "Can You Help Me Find Her?" is a combination of poetry and narrative that weaves an awe-inspiring tale of missed romantic encounter prompted by an undeniable mutual love at first sight experience." I collaborated with Larry to bring this unique book to the printed page. The poetry itself takes on a distinctive artistic format that required a wide format design.
